Playing on more than one table at the same time
Nowadays most poker sites allow you to play on more than one table at the same time. Most sites allow you to play on max four tables at the same time. However, there are exceptions (such as Pacific Poker, which only allows you to play on one table at the same time). Furthermore it is also possible to play on several different poker sites at the same time.
Playing on several tables at the same time can be an easy way to
raise your average hourly earnings. An additional advantage is that you have a good starting hand more often, which means that you have to wait less long before there's some action. This is especially a good thing for the impatient players among us, who (because of boredom) have problems with remaining disciplined.
Probably needless to say but we would like to mention it anyway, just to be sure: It is important to remember that you should only play on several tables at the same time if you are a winning player. Otherwise you'll only lose your money faster!
Furthermore, do not expect that you can simply just multiply your hourly earnings with the number of tables that you play on. Your hourly earnings a table will decrease slightly because you can't focus and concentrate entirely on everything that happens at every table. Nevertheless your earnings an hour will increase compared to when playing at just one table at a time.
The disadvantage of playing on several tables at the same time is that, besides a higher required
bankroll, you have to play way more concentrated in order to not overlook certain things. For this reason we advise you to not play too long without a break. You should at least take a break every two hours so that you will play your best game at all times.
Besides that you will do something very stupid from time to time. For example pressing the wrong buttons (try to avoid overlap of your poker windows and have them next to one another) or acting too late.
The number of tables you can play at the same time is difficult to determine because it differs by person. Apparently there are players who can play at 17 tables at the same time! It's all about what you consider as comfortable. In case you've never played at several tables at the same time it's needless to say that in that case you should first try with just two and if that goes smoothly you can consider extending it.
Some poker sites have software which makes it very simple to play at several tables at the same time. For example they enable you to open four poker windows at once, without any overlap, with just one click with the mouse.
Furthermore the larger your computer screen, or the more screens (for the freak), the more tables you can play at the same time. Finally we would like to say please pay very good attention to everything you see because you would not be the first player who mistakes a heart for a diamond!
